A child laborer who works in a brick kiln in Peshawar pulls on the tail of a horse he is leading down a hill. One of his jobs in the kiln is to guide the horses as they carry heavy loads of bricks to be fired. In this photo they have just emptied their load and are returning to pick up a new one. The children are cheap to hire, and may never receive any kind of substantial formal education, severely restricting their opportunities. Unsurprisingly their sometimes mischievous behavior can cause injury and other problems for the horses.
